New for 2025, we’ve rolled out improvements to the Equity Leadership Initiative, now called ELI+. Those improvements include:
- A focus on enrolling mid-career professionals and/or managers who identify as people of color and are working in the social impact sector (nonprofit, public sector, and social enterprise);
- No more than a 15-person cohort size that allows for deeper engagement in ELI+ workshops and with program facilitators, coaches, speakers, and fellow participants;
- Six, topic-focused, day-long seminars and trainings held in-person at the Rhode Island Foundation and aligned with a well-defined and robust curriculum;
- An emphasis on providing more specific leadership development strategies and tangible skills within ELI+ seminars and via dual enrollment of ELI+ cohort members in the INP Core program; and
- Individualized, one-on-one coaching that builds upon the learning from program workshops and seminars.

ELI Alumni
Meet the Equity Leadership Initiative alumni, and find out what they're doing now.
The Rhode Island Foundation is committed to advancing equity centered on valuing and embracing diverse identities and experiences and guided by inclusiveness, accessibility, compassion, mutual respect, and humility in partnership with our team and the community.
As a result of a comprehensive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Needs Assessment, and feedback from the community, our partners, team, and Board of Directors, a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access (DEIA) Strategic Roadmap has been developed to guide us as we continue working in partnership with the community to build a more inclusive and equitable future for all Rhode Islanders.
