Brian Medeiros has been appointed Chief Technology Officer at the $1.7 billion Rhode Island Foundation. He will lead the Foundation’s work maximizing the impact of technology and serve as a member of the Foundation’s leadership team.

Cicilline, president and CEO. "He is well suited to lead our growing emphasis on leveraging technology to advance the Foundation’s mission and impact.

Medeiros has more than two decades of technology leadership experience across financial services, healthcare, education and nonprofit organizations.

Most recently, he served as Vice President of IT, Security and Compliance at Ametros Financial, a subsidiary of Webster Bank.

“Some of the most meaningful work of my career has been for organizations built to serve people, not shareholders. That's why this role feels different to me. The Foundation's reach across our state is remarkable, and I'm honored to bring my experience to an organization doing so much good for Rhode Islanders," said Medeiros.

Previous to his time at Ametros Financial, Medeiros served as Chief Information Officer at Direct Federal Credit Union and the New England Center for Children, where he led major technology modernization initiatives, strengthened cybersecurity and compliance programs and built high-performing teams aligned with organizational goals.

Medeiros earned a BS in Information Technology at the University of Phoenix and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional. He is a Trustee of the Bristol Masonic Angel Fund.

Medeiros joins the Foundation as it delivers on the promise of its new Five-Year Action Plan, which focuses on Climate Action and Sustainability, Civic and Cultural Life, Education and Student Success, Healthy and Strong Communities, and Housing and Economic Mobility; guided by inclusion, accessibility, empathy, mutual respect and humility.

In addition, the Foundation recently launched three enhanced grant programs: Community Priority Grants, Catalyst Grants and Capacity Building Grants.

At the end of 2025, total assets stood at approximately $1.7 billion. Total fund investment return for the year was 16.2 percent. In addition, the Foundation awarded a record $93 million grants and raised $82 million in gifts in 2025.
