COVID-19 Behavioral Health Fund Grants

The application for this program is currently closed

COVID-19 Behavioral Health Grants are available to Rhode Island nonprofit organizations delivering behavioral health services in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Deadlines: April 17, 2020 and May 15, 2020

Grants from the fund will:

  • Support evidence-informed programs that meet a specific local need related to the COVID-19 pandemic; and
  • Support operating expenses necessary to continue delivery of behavioral health services.
  • Preference will be given to proposals that serve communities that are disproportionately impacted by behavioral health issues and are underserved by behavioral health supports.

Grant awards will vary in size, we anticipate most will fall within the $25,000 and $250,000 range. Grant terms may be variable depending on organizational need and the scope of crisis response.

It is likely that organizations will only be eligible for one COVID-19 Behavioral Health Fund Grant.

COVID-19 Behavioral Health Fund Grants will provide valuable and timely resources to support, expand, and enhance the capacity of nonprofit organizations to deliver behavioral health services in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring continued access for Rhode Islanders.

The Fund will support evidence-informed programs that meet a specific local need related to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as support operating expenses necessary to continue delivery of behavioral health services. Preference will be given to proposals that serve communities that are disproportionately impacted by behavioral health issues and are underserved by behavioral health supports.

This program will not fund research, individuals, event sponsorships, or capital projects. Exceptions for capital expenses may be made if they are related to remote treatment capabilities or filling a gap in residential care.

We recognize there are meaningful efforts and entities without a 501(c)(3) IRS designation whose work aligns with this program. In these cases, we will consider grant applications from groups utilizing a fiscal sponsor that does have a 501(c)(3) IRS designation.
